Custom Fitting

Redbourn's custom fit specialist Robert Emery is available to get you hitting the ball longer and straighter. A fully qualified PGA professional Robert has been custom fitting for over 5 years.

"Manufacturers build clubs to their own standard and not to the individual golfer. Golfers should use clubs suited to their swing, not change their swing to accommodate ill-suited clubs".

What happens during a fitting session?

To begin with simple measurements such as wrist-to-floor, height and hand size are taken and will point you to the right sized club and at what angle it should be to the ground.

Then you will take a club and hit some balls. I place impact tape on the bottom and on the face of the club and an impact board on the floor.

As you hit the ball the board will leave a mark on the tape showing whether the heel or the toe of the club is striking the floor first and where on the clubface you are striking the ball.

The resulting mark will show whether the club face needs to be flatter or more upright.

Then things get a bit more advanced. I use a launch monitor which measures your club speed, launch angle of the ball, side spin of the ball, club head speed etc so that you can get maximum distance from your shot.

The angle in which the club approaches the ball and the sidespin of it can help fix your game too.

What difference will it make?

Custom fitting won't cure all your bad shots. Coaching will sort that out. But if you do make a good swing, then the club will arrive correctly at impact and should produce a straight shot at your target.

That alone will save shots during a round.

What happens following the custom fit session

You can either choose a whole set of clubs - irons, woods, hybrids, wedges and a putter that will be custom fitted for you or you can leave your details with us until you are ready to purchase a new set of clubs. Should you decide to purchase a set of clubs from us we will conduct a review session one month after you have been playing with your new clubs to check that the fitting is perfectly suited.
